We had a very nice cabin with comfortable bed. The cabins are older (which is what I like as they are the ones with character) but exceeding clean and delightfully... read more decorated. Really nice screened porch to relax on. We were early for season so was very quite.
July 6, 2018Good:
Screened porch at the cabin. Location (central to the Whites). TV, wi-fi, fridge worked fine. Ya Ya's (north of intersection) offers nearby basic groceries and subs (must be good... read more as it draws lots of customers).
Not so good:
Bed is short (I'm 6'2") and because the headboard juts out a few inches, I had to pull the bed off the wall by 4-5" and sleep diagonally on the mattress. Heating unit is a single blower in the bedroom, which doesn't maintain a consistent temperature during the night. Kitchen has no running water and so cleaning dishes is done in the bathroom sink whose stopper needs to be lifted to allow orts to run off. Bathroom window knob jammed and inserted packaged napkin between knob and frame to avoid having to fight the know when wanting to open or close the window. Closest large grocery store 21 minutes away in Littleton. (Only) one maid service for every 7-day stay. More
August 21, 2022Every summer we stay at Carroll Motel & Cottages and can honestly say it is the highlight of our summer! The cottages are always very clean and welcoming and... read more the grounds around the motel and cottages are impeccable. Most importantly, the owners Brian and Cyndi, are wonderful and extremely accommodating to every need! We love it there and cannot wait for our next visit!

Nice family run motel. Rooms are very clean. They are very accominating. This was my 3rd time staying here while up here attending the NH Highland Games. Stayed in their... read more motel room twice and one of their cottages once during our time up here.
November 4, 2022The cabin was very clean. Because the weather was cold and rainy during the majority of our stay, we were unable to use the enclosed porch area of the... read more cabin. There sleeping area of the cabin was tiny and there was a very small area to hang some clothes and nowhere to put our suitcases. There were 2 beds, but if we had four people, our clothes would have had to go out on the porch. There was one chair inside and we brought a plastic chair in from the porch and used a tv tray for a table which allowed no room to move around. Getting to the small fridge and cupboard was a challenge. We were advised that we needed to let the water run "awhile" to get warm water to the cabin because the pipes ran underground. We had to let it run for at least 5 minutes to get to lukewarm, so face and handwashing were cold water only. We did have to let it run at least that long to get a shower in, but then the water was warm and full until someone else must have turned on their water and the pressure decreased to half.
The wall unit heater either blasted you out because the room was so small or you shivered while you took a break from the heat.
The location of the cabins are excellent and I think it would be a much different story if we had visited in the summer when the weather is warm and the pool is open. We had easy access to the Cog Railway up Mt. Washington which was one of our objectives. We also had easy access to the Franconia Notch State Park, Crawford Notch, and the abundance of waterfalls and covered bridges. We arrived on Tuesday and found out that there are very few restaurants in the area that are open on Tuesday during this time of year after calling about 5 or 6 to check. I would not come back again in October.
October 10, 2018The property had rustic charm and was clean. However, the cottage where we stayed was run down and dated and hot water was not readily available. After about 5... read more minutes of running the water, as the sign in the bathroom suggests, the water was still cold. We would have stayed but no hot water is a deal breaker!
